Welcome to Another run of the mill calls and messaging app overview! Today we're looking at TextMe. My, I wonder how many variations of app names you can come up with...

TextMe doesn't kid around. It only provides messaging and calling. You may invite people from your contact list but connecting with someone who isn't there might prove to be a little tricky. Searching by user name yields no result, and since not every device comes with a SIM card, these seem to be left out of the loop.

TextMe offers call credit that can be obtained in variety of ways, such as watching video comaercals or filling surveys. You can also straight up buy credit or get a subscription.

There's also a web app login feature, but unfortunately I haven't noticed it to do anything. The interface is also a bit glitchy. On Android Lollipop it exhibited a weird tendency to hide the controls, unless you pressed the back button every time you changed the tab (and that was also not guaranteed to work).

Overall, I'm not impressed with TextMe. Although I admire simple designs, I also care that they work well. TextMe developers still have to work on this one.
